Our Story
Innovating Structural Engineering Since 1979
W H Thomas & Partners was founded in 1979 when changes to the New Towns Act and the general economic growth in the West Midlands and Shropshire meant that the Civil and Structural Engineering departments within the Telford Development Corporation (TDC) would gradually be dissolved.
A group of engineers realised there was an opportunity to continue to provide these services by local people in the teams using the local knowledge and relationships gained through the trust and integrity of the work undertaken as part of TDC. This allowed the local team to continue to provide these services to residents, existing commercial and retail clients and new international clients being attracted to Telford from the 1980’s. Those original core values and work ethics continue to be relevant to the business today and are the foundation of our business, our people, and the strategy thereby giving us our identity.
Now, 45 years later and known as Thomas Consulting Limited, we have offices in Shrewsbury, Chorley, Lancaster, and London with a team of qualified civil and structural engineers we can safely say that our people-centric philosophy and experience make our business what it is today, the skill, dedication and forward thinking of the team fosters positive client relationships.
