Graduate Civil Engineering Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Civils Team. The ideal candidate would have at least three years’ experience with knowledge of Highways and Drainage design.

Graduate Civil Engineer

We are seeking an outgoing Graduate Civil Engineer to join our expanding Civils team based in our Lancaster office in North West England.  The ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years  experience of Highways and Drainage design.

About the position

A successful candidate would receive mentorship and support from experienced sponsorsas part of a graduate development route towards their desired chartership.  A large number of existing staff within Thomas Consulting are members or fellows of industry approved institutions.

About the candidate we are seeking

The individual should be self motivated and prepared to work within a team and enjoy a challenge in the workplace whilst wanting to continually develop.

Essential Experience required

  • Use of AutoCAD and Causeway Flow and PDS
  • Highways and drainage design, with examples of developed infrastructure schemes
  • Experience working in a consultancy/design office, operating with best practice and as part of a design team

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge with Sections 278, 38 and 104 submissions
  • Report writing

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Head Office Finance Team based in Chorley, 16 hours per week ideally over five days although this can be flexible to suit.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience working within a sales ledger/credit control environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Head Office Finance Team based in Chorley, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience working within a sales ledger, credit control environment.

About the position

The Finance team sits within the Business Support Function that covers the three offices within Thomas Consulting.  The role is to provide support to the Finance Manager on a day to day basis focusing on the Sales Ledger and Credit control areas, there may be times when support is required within other areas of Business Support full training will be provided when required.

The successful candidate will receive ongoing support and mentoring from the Finance Manager, and will be offered the relevant training to ensure they carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.

The individual is to be based in the Chorley office, however, we have offices  in Lancaster and Shrewsbury and the role will cover the relevant finance for each office.

About the candidate we are seeking

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, member of the team who can hit the ground running and will manage and report on the accounts to the Finance Manager.

    Civil Project Engineer Opportunity

    We are looking for  experienced Civil Engineer to work within our Chorley Office. If you are highly  motivated and relish the challenge of a demanding role then this could be what you  have been looking for.

    Civil Project Engineer

    Within our Civils team we have the opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to work alongside existing staff in the Chorley office.  Ideally the candidate would have a minimum of five years experience within Highways and Drainage design.  We seek a highly motivated engineer who has the ability to manage their own workload and is confident at communicating in a consultation environment.

    About the position

    The successful candidate’s role will involve mentoring graduate engineers and engineering technicians to assist on existing workload and develop their skillsets to meet the required needs and demands of our clients and business goals.  Although the candidate will be based in the Chorley office Thomas Consulting have further offices in Lancaster and Shrewsbury and each office works closely together assisting on projects where required, each engineer has a number of projets and clients at any one time to manage.    You will be expected to support our Principal Engineers and Directors across the group.

    Quality deliverables and client satisfaction are at the forefront of our everyday responsibilities as individuals to ensure conformance to our accredited processes and procedures as recognised within the industry.

    Candidates must be able to demonstrate good fundamental knowledge and understanding of the application of principles of  infrastructure engineering design.

    • Preparation of construction drawings and specifications
    • Commercial awareness of costing, budgets and quotations
    • Report writing
    • Site visits to verify construction complies with construction drawings

    Desirable Experience

    • Understanding of STAAD.Pro, SCIA  and Revit
    • Project management and leadership skills
    • Willing to work towards or nearing Chartered Status
