Graduate Civil Engineering Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Civils Team. The ideal candidate would have at least three years’ experience with knowledge of Highways and Drainage design.

Graduate Civil Engineer

We are seeking an outgoing Graduate Civil Engineer to join our expanding Civils team based in our Lancaster office in North West England.  The ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years  experience of Highways and Drainage design.

About the position

A successful candidate would receive mentorship and support from experienced sponsorsas part of a graduate development route towards their desired chartership.  A large number of existing staff within Thomas Consulting are members or fellows of industry approved institutions.

About the candidate we are seeking

Essential Experience required

  • Use of AutoCAD and Causeway Flow and PDS
  • Highways and drainage design, with examples of developed infrastructure schemes

Business Support  provides a quality/client focused service to both the technical and management team, from an initial enquiry through to invoicing and post delivery service within the three offices at Thomas Consulting.

About the position

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our business support team based in Lancaster, you will be part of friendly supportive organisation that believes people buy from people and our services are only as professional as our staff.

The role provides support on a day to day basis to the technical team to ensure delivery of our services in a professional and efficient manner. There will be times when support is required within other offices as the business demands full training will be provided as required.

The successful candidate will receive ongoing support and mentoring from the business support team, and will be offered the relevant training to ensure they carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.

The individual is to be based in the Lancaster office, however, we have offices in Chorley and Shrewsbury and the role will provide support across all offices during holiday periods and inter-office working.

Civil Project Engineer Opportunity

We are looking for  experienced Civil Engineer to work within our Chorley Office. If you are highly  motivated and relish the challenge of a demanding role then this could be what you  have been looking for.

Civil Project Engineer

Within our Civils team we have the opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to work alongside existing staff in the Chorley office.  Ideally the candidate would have a minimum of five years experience within Highways and Drainage design.  We seek a highly motivated engineer who has the ability to manage their own workload and is confident at communicating in a consultation environment.

About the position

The successful candidate’s role will involve mentoring graduate engineers and engineering technicians to assist on existing workload and develop their skillsets to meet the required needs and demands of our clients and business goals.  Although the candidate will be based in the Chorley office Thomas Consulting have further offices in Lancaster and Shrewsbury and each office works closely together assisting on projects where required, each engineer has a number of projets and clients at any one time to manage.    You will be expected to support our Principal Engineers and Directors across the group.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate good fundamental knowledge and understanding of the application of principles of  infrastructure engineering design.

  • Working experience within the adoptable standards Section 278, Section 38 and 104
  • Commercial awareness of costing, budgets and quotations
  • Report writing
  • Site visits to verify construction complies with construction drawings

  • Report writing
  • Site visits to verify construction complies with construction drawings

Desirable Experience

  • Understanding of STAAD.Pro, SCIA  and Revit
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Willing to work towards or nearing Chartered Status
