About the position
To work effectively as a Structural Engineer, you must work successfully with other Engineers in the team, manage CAD Technicians, and produce designs in a wide range of engineering materials. It is essential that you are responsible for the analysis and designs carried out on our projects and manage your time effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time. Ideally, a minimum of two years of relevant experience post-qualification.
About the candidate we are seeking
The successful candidate will be required to ensure best practices are applied within the office and to assist the Senior Structural Engineers, Associates and Directors with improving design services and operational efficiency.
The ideal individual must be self-motivated, driven by a challenge, whilst continually learning new skills and has experience working within a team and is confident at communicating in a consultation environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake appropriate analysis in the most common construction materials, prepare design calculations, drawings, and reports with little supervision from a Senior Engineer and in a form that can readily be checked by another member of staff.
- Deliver high-quality designs in concrete, steel, masonry, timber, etc., together with soils, foundations and drainage.
- Apply Eurocodes, British Standards, current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations, and other design codes/information as appropriate.
- Support Senior Engineers in project design from commencement to completion.
- Produce clear, hand-drawn sketches with annotations as necessary.
- Undertake thorough site investigations, complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.
- Manage and coordinate CAD Technicians to produce high-quality designs using a wide range of engineering materials.
- Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
- Offer leadership, mentoring, encouragement, and motivation to junior Engineers.
- If not already Chartered, work towards your Chartership with the support of your mentor and colleagues in a regular and systematic manner.
- Keep your professional development up to date with IPD/CPD expectations and/or Membership requirements of the IStructE and/or ICE.
- Able to demonstrate clear communication with all members of the design and/or construction team regarding matters of structural safety and keep up to date with information provided by CROSS (Collaborative Reporting for Safer Structures, see www.cross-safety.org/uk).
- Demonstrate ability to produce written reports following structural inspections of construction works and building defects with minimal supervision.
- Working experience of various project types in multiple sectors covering new build, refurbishment and conversion.
Software Capabilities
- AutoCAD, Tekla, and REVIT, Bluebeam
- Basic Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Education Requirements
- BEng/MEng or equivalent degree from a JBM-accredited course in Civil Engineering or associated subject.
- Near Chartership with either the Institution of Structural Engineers or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
- If not already Chartered, the expectation is the ability to complete the IStructE Certificate of structural behaviour successfully.

We are looking for two experienced Senior Structural Engineers to join our Chorley office. Ideally, the candidates will have a minimum of three years’ UK experience of Structural design within residential and commercial buildings.
About the position
Each engineer has a number of projects and clients to manage at any one time, with a requirement to meet the needs and demands of our clients and business goals. Candidates must be able to demonstrate good fundamental knowledge and understanding within the application and principles of structural engineering design. Quality deliverables and client satisfaction are at the forefront of our everyday responsibilities as individuals to ensure conformance to our accredited processes and procedures, as recognised within the industry. You will be expected to support our Principal engineers and Directors across the group.
The role will involve mentoring less experienced members of the team to develop their skills and your own skills. There is an opportunity based at the Chorley office; however, each office works closely together, assisting on projects where required.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum three years’ experience within Structural design, including steelwork, reinforced concrete and masonry construction to Euro Code standard
- Proficient use of AutoCAD, Masterseries and TEDDS design software
- Producing detailed structural calculations and sketches
- Preparation of construction drawings and specifications
- Commercial awareness of costing, budgets and quotations
- Report writing
- Site visits to verify construction complies with construction drawings
Desirable Attributes
- Understanding of STAAD.Pro, SCIA and Revit
- Project management and leadership skills
- Willing to work towards or nearing Chartered Status

About the position
We are seeking a highly motivated Near Chartered Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of complex structural projects, with experience in the delivery of high-rise buildings and schemes requiring close collaboration with steelwork fabricators. Working alongside other senior engineers, technicians and directors, contributing technical expertise while developing towards full chartership.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed structural design and analysis across steel, concrete, and composite structures for medium to high-rise developments
- Experience in working on behalf of fabricators to interrogate steelwork drawings and end reactions to design complex steel to steel and steel to concrete connections
- Liaise closely with steel fabricators, contractors, and architects to ensure buildable and cost-effective solutions
- Produce and check structural calculations, drawings, and specifications in line with UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, and relevant standards
- Assist in managing project delivery to programme and budget, coordinating with internal design teams and external stakeholders
- Contribute to BIM coordination and the integration of structural models into multidisciplinary workflows
- Support the mentoring of junior engineers and technicians
- Maintain awareness of health and safety, sustainability, and innovation in structural engineering practice
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Near Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), actively working toward chartership
- Demonstrable experience on high-rise or large-scale building schemes in the UK
- Strong background in steelwork design and coordination with fabricators
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, IdeaStatica and good knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
